silly goose: on my tree.

after david departed for windsor, most of my time on the 23rd and 24th was spent taking pictures, wrapping gifts, and baking, baking, baking. since so many others captured images of their favourite christmas tree ornaments and posted them in their blogs, i thought it might be neat to do the same.

the tree all trimmed

this is my very first christmas ornament. it doesn't actually mark my first christmas since i was born before christmas in 1977; but 1978 was the first year i was home for the 25th since i was born jaundiced and was in an incubator for that first christmas. i'm amazed at how well it's stood up to the wear and tear of holiday shenannigans. it isn't glass, but with the number of times our trees have been knocked down and ornaments man-handled over the years, it's a wonder it's in as good condition as it is.

this little lady is a felt angel that my mom made years ago from a creative circle pattern she received through a mail-order catalogue. the kit actually included a number of ornaments, but this is the only one that's survived. oddly enough, i came across the same kit during a recent trip to value village and purchased it for $5. i'm excited to have the kit since the little angel and her friends my mom made bring back such fond memories for me and now i'll have a set of my own.

the following shots were actually meant for the december self-portrait tuesday's "reflective surfaces" installation, but i never actually got around to making specific entries. they were taken on the 23rd and were oainfully difficult to take. i'm surprised they came out as well as they did.
