happy [belated] canada day.

what a busy, busy weekend! i'm still exhausted from it all and i don't imagine i'll catch up on my sleep until this next weekend. david and i travelled to toronto again this year to spend canada day with his family at his aunt and uncle's house. we arrived saturday evening and stayed until monday and we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. we barbequed, hot-tubbed, and shopped until we nearly dropped. i was delighted to find a pair of these eleanor grosch keds at the yorkdale mall. they're absolutely lovely, though i do despise the breaking-in phase of new shoes; my ankles are padded with band-aids.

i didn't end up in the pool, as the water was just that little bit too chilly for me, so i contented myself with dipping my feet in to keep cool through the afternoon:



once the food was finished, the sun was down and the stars were out, we broke out the sparklers and found a pretty neat way of saying happy birthday to our "home and native land." it was a collaborative effort and i think it turned out rather well:
